Innovatively packaged candles stole the spotlight as EX•TRACTS, a division of the New York International Gift Fair—which ran through February 3, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center—announced its semi-annual Best New Product Awards. Tatine was named Best in Show for Foundry, a collection of candles with packaging reminiscent of vintage-modern found objects from a motorcycle foundry. Simpatico-Home took top honors in the Packaging category for its Hobnail Glass Candle, noted for the textured glass that creates its knobbed design; the candles are available in a variety of jewel tones, and include a wax seal from an antique letterpress machine. Lotus Love Beauty scored high in the Natural/Organic category for its Soy Wax Travel Tin Candle, featuring hand-braided wicks and packaged in recyclable tins.

EX•TRACTS awards are presented semi-annually in five categories: ILLUME took honors in the Bath & Beauty category, Ecoya in the Beauty & Accessory category and Royal Apothic in Cosmetics & Fragrance.
